Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions homeowners ask about Shamrock Services, our roofline-down approach, maintenance plans, and Shamrock Cares.

What makes Shamrock Services different?+

Shamrock Services is built around a clean, protect, and maintain approach. We look at the home from the roofline down and recommend the right combination of cleaning, protection, and maintenance. We prefer light pressure and limited chemical use whenever possible because the goal is to care for the home, not just clean it quickly.

Do you prefer maintenance plans or one-time services?+

We prefer maintenance plans because they help homeowners stay ahead of buildup and keep the home cleaner, protected, and maintained year-round. However, we also offer one-time services for homeowners who need a single cleaning or exterior reset.

Can I book a one-time service?+

Yes. One-time services are available for house washing, roof cleaning, gutter cleaning, gutter brightening, driveway cleaning, exterior window cleaning, and other exterior care needs. Some homes may benefit from a one-time reset before moving into a maintenance plan.

Why do you prefer light pressure?+

High pressure can damage siding, loosen paint, force water behind surfaces, scar concrete, damage trim, and create uneven results when used incorrectly. We use light pressure or soft washing methods whenever appropriate to help reduce unnecessary risk.

Why do you prefer limited chemical use?+

Strong chemicals can harm plants, landscaping, painted surfaces, metals, and delicate finishes if they are overused or misapplied. We use controlled chemical application and choose the right process for each surface.

Do you always use light pressure?+

Our preferred approach is to use light pressure or the least aggressive method that makes sense for the surface. However, when requested and when safe for the surface, we can use stronger cleaning methods such as surface cleaning for concrete or stronger treatment for dark roof stains.

Can you use a surface cleaner on my driveway?+

Yes. If you want a more immediate driveway cleaning result, we can discuss using a surface cleaner during your Exterior Care Assessment. We will consider the condition of the concrete, safety, drainage, and the best method for the result you want.

Can you remove dark stains from my roof?+

Roof soft washing is designed to treat dark streaks, algae, and organic growth. If you want darker stains treated more aggressively, we can discuss stronger treatment options during your Exterior Care Assessment.

What does clean, protect, and maintain mean?+

Clean means removing dirt, algae, mildew, stains, and buildup from the exterior. Protect means recommending services such as Roof Preservation or Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection when appropriate. Maintain means keeping the home on a regular schedule so it stays cleaner, better cared for, and less likely to fall behind.

What is Roof Preservation?+

Roof Preservation is a conditioner applied to the roof to help maintain the roof after cleaning and support longer roof life. It is a protection-focused service that may be recommended as part of an exterior maintenance plan.

What is Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection?+

Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection is applied after house washing when appropriate. It is a protection-focused service for painted surfaces, caulking, sealants, and exterior finishes. It helps protect against oxidation and helps keep exterior surfaces conditioned.

Are Roof Preservation and Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection the same thing?+

No. Roof Preservation is a conditioner applied to the roof. Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection is a separate service applied after house washing to help protect painted surfaces, caulking, sealants, and exterior finishes.

How can exterior maintenance help prevent costly repairs?+

Exterior maintenance helps homeowners stay ahead of dirt, algae, mildew, clogged gutters, oxidation, failing caulk, roof staining, dirty windows, and neglected surfaces. While no service can prevent every repair, consistent care can help reduce unnecessary wear and help catch issues earlier.

What is included with window cleaning in the maintenance plan?+

Some maintenance plans may include a maintenance-level exterior glass rinse as part of the house wash process. This is not the same as a detailed squeegee-style window cleaning or dedicated pure water-fed pole window cleaning.

Do you offer detailed exterior window cleaning?+

Yes. We offer dedicated pure water-fed pole exterior window cleaning for an additional fee or by request. This is a more detailed exterior window cleaning service than the basic glass rinse included with some house washing or maintenance services.

Do you use squeegees?+

Our primary detailed exterior window cleaning option is pure water-fed pole cleaning using purified water when appropriate. The basic window rinse included with some maintenance services is not a squeegee-style cleaning.

What are the free monthly touch-ups?+

Emerald Exterior Maintenance Plan members may request one free monthly touch-up visit, up to 1 hour, when scheduling allows. These are for small maintenance items and minor touch-ups between scheduled services. They do not include major cleanings, roof cleaning, heavy restoration, gutter brightening, tall ladder work, chemical-intensive work, Roof Preservation, Exterior Paint & Sealant Protection, or specialty services unless approved by Shamrock Services.

Do you work from the roof down?+

Yes. Our exterior care approach is organized from the roofline down, which may include roof care, gutters, siding, painted exterior surfaces, windows, and concrete depending on the needs of the home.

Is this only for dirty homes?+

No. Our maintenance plans are especially helpful for homeowners who already take pride in their property and want to keep it clean, protected, and maintained year-round.

Is Shamrock Cares a guaranteed free service?+

No. Shamrock Cares nominations are reviewed based on need, location, safety, service fit, weather, scheduling, and availability. Submitting a nomination does not guarantee service.
